What it is

Step-by-step preparation for the Personal Exercise Programme

Every skill page follows the same four steps: Learn it (what you need to know), See it (a short example about a made-up performer), Try it (practise on a made-up performer) and Your turn (apply it to your own performance, in notes, ticks and numbers only). Support fades as students move through the four parts.

  • For students taking Pearson Edexcel GCSE PE (1PE0) and the teachers preparing them
  • Covers Component 4: the PEP (20 marks, 10% of the GCSE), all five strands
  • A photocopiable training record for every session
  • Fictional examples across many different activities
  • Check-your-understanding answers and a theory toolkit at the back

Built around the JCQ rules

JCQ instructions say centres must not provide model answers or writing frames specific to the task, and Pearson's NEA guidance adds that templates are not permitted and candidates design their own structure. The workbook is designed for the teaching and preparation phase. It never contains a structure, paragraph or sentence students could hand in.

Exam Vista's advice: use the workbook for teaching and preparation, not during the assessed write-up. Once assessed work begins, give general advice only, and follow the current Pearson Edexcel and JCQ requirements and your centre's policy.

The requirements were checked against the Pearson Edexcel GCSE PE specification, the PEP marking grid (first used in 2023), Pearson's GCSE PE NEA guidance for 2026 and the JCQ instructions, in October 2026. Always check the current specification and your school's instructions.
