Free AQA GCSE PE NEA Step-by-Step Workbook

A complete 79-page student workbook for the analysis and evaluation of performance. Students work through it step by step, in class or on their own: plan, analyse, evaluate, improve.

No email or sign-up. A4, designed to be printed and written in by hand.

What it is

Step-by-step preparation for the performance analysis assessment

The workbook teaches students how to identify and justify their strengths and weaknesses, then how to build a plan of action that could improve them.

Every skill page follows the same four steps: Learn it (what you need to know), See it (a short example about a made-up performer), Try it (practise on a made-up performer) and Your turn (apply it to your own performance, in notes, ticks and numbers only). Support fades as students move through the four parts.

  • For students taking AQA GCSE PE (8582) and the teachers preparing them
  • Covers the analysis (15 marks) and evaluation (10 marks) of performance
  • Fictional examples across many different activities
  • Check-your-understanding answers and a theory toolkit at the back

Built around the JCQ rules

JCQ instructions for non-examination assessments say centres must not provide model answers or writing frames specific to the task. The workbook is designed for the teaching and preparation phase. It never contains work students could hand in.

Exam Vista's advice: use the workbook for teaching and preparation, not during the assessed write-up. Once assessed work begins, give general advice only, and follow the current AQA and JCQ requirements and your centre's policy.

The requirements were checked against the AQA 8582 specification and AQA's published changes up to version 1.7, the AQA Teaching guide for the NEA and the JCQ instructions, in October 2026. Always check the current specification and your school's instructions.
